As the Niagara River Lions head into their 10th season, the team is gearing up for a year of celebration, growth, and exciting new beginnings.


In honor of this milestone, the River Lions are unveiling a special 10th anniversary logo, a refreshed brand identity, celebrating an era of new leadership, and sharing plans for a historic season ahead.

HONORING A DECADE OF RIVER LIONS BASKETBALL

The River Lions are celebrating their rich history with a unique anniversary logo that blends the past with the present. This new logo incorporates the original uniform font from the team’s inaugural 2015 season and features a blue wave element—a nod to the team’s first logo before the River Lions joined the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) in 2018.


You’ll see this anniversary logo throughout the 2025 season, including on player uniforms, at center court, and across all marketing materials. It’s a tribute to the team’s incredible journey and the strong foundation built over the past decade.

A BOLD NEW LOOK FOR THE FUTURE

Along with the anniversary logo, we're refreshing our branding and officially transitioning from navy blue and lime green to black and lime green. This bold change, which started to take shape in 2024, will be fully integrated across all team branding, symbolizing a new era for the franchise.


The color black represents strength, resilience, and dominance—qualities that define the River Lions both on and off the court. Lime green continues to represent the energy, passion, and drive that propel the team forward. Together, these colors reflect the powerful vision the River Lions have for the future.


After claiming the 2024 CEBL Championship, we are retiring the hashtag #TheHunt, signaling the completion of the championship pursuit. Moving forward, we will embrace the new mantra: #RunItBack. This reflects our focus on defending our championship title in 2025 and continuing to solidify our place as one of the league’s top teams.

A NEW ERA OF LEADERSHIP

The 2025 season also marks a significant leadership transition as Michelle Biskup steps into the role of President of the Niagara River Lions. Michelle has been a cornerstone of the organization since 2016, helping to shape the team’s success both on and off the court. Most recently serving as Vice President of Operations, she has gained invaluable experience and has been a dynamic leader throughout the team’s evolution.


Originally from Burlington, Michelle has called the Niagara Region home for over a decade and has been recognized for her leadership with multiple accolades, including being named to Business Link’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2021 and a Women in Business Young Professional Finalist by the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce in 2018.


As President, Michelle now oversees all aspects of the River Lions, including basketball operations, business strategy, partnerships, and community initiatives. With her strategic vision and unwavering commitment to the franchise, Michelle is ready to lead the River Lions into their next decade of success.

10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION NIGHT

To honor the team’s 10 years of growth and success, the River Lions will host a special 10th Anniversary Celebration Night on June 13, 2025. This event will bring together alumni, former staff, coaches, and volunteers for a weekend full of festivities, including a championship ring ceremony and banner raising to celebrate the team’s 2024 CEBL Championship victory.
