St. Catharines, Ontario – The Niagara River Lions are thrilled to announce that Ridley College will be one of the primary practice facilities of the team for the 2021 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season and the organization’s official partner of PLAY! (Physical Literacy Activities for Youth). The River Lions and Ridley College will continue to build on their five-year partnership with a common goal of connecting Niagrans with the growing regional, provincial and national basketball community – all while advocating for the importance of youth physical activity.

“We are extremely excited to continue our partnership with Ridley College,” said Vice President of Operations for the River Lions, Michelle Biskup. “Jay and his team have always had a community first mindset with values that align with ours. We are proud to call Ridley College our partners and hope to continue to work together for years to come.”

The River Lions will take up residence in Ridley’s Griffith Gymnasium, making the incredible campus facility home for the next few months. Together, Ridley and the River Lions will continue to educate and advocate for the importance of quality daily physical activity for Niagara’s youth, and to promote ways for everyone to stay active for life.

A jewel of the Niagara region since 1889, Ridley’s focus is on educating the whole child and providing students with the tools that prepare them to lead flourishing lives. The acclaimed co-educational boarding and day school (educating students from JK to Gr.12/PG) is a leader in positive education and one of only three International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum schools of its kind in North America. With its diverse student body and innovative programming, Ridley is committed to fostering global perspectives; fueling a life-long passion for learning; and providing enriching experiences rooted in academics, arts, co-curriculars, and athletics. It’s elite Prep Basketball team also competes in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) and is led by professional coaching staff.

The Niagara River Lions are one of the original six teams of the CEBL. Playing out of Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines, the River Lions represent the twelve municipalities of the Niagara Region while living up to the River Lions moniker of pride and strength of community.
