What is the Niagara River Lions Dance Pak?

The Niagara River Lions Dance Pak is a group of women that love to perform and have fun. The primary role of the Dance Pak will be to support the River Lions organization by engaging and entertaining fans at all home basketball games and attending practices leading up to game days. The role of the Dance Pak will go beyond the court or sidelines; the team will be ambassadors for the River Lions when in the Niagara community. The team will be comprised of females over the age of 18 who have previous dance experience, are fit, athletic, personable, and charismatic.

What are the requirements to be on the team?

• Must have a dance, cheer and/or gymnastics background
• Must be at least 18 years of age by May 1, 2024.
• Must be a high school graduate
• Must have reliable means of transportation to games and practices.
• Must be physically fit and healthy 
• You must be able to attend all practices, rehearsals and other related activities including but not limited to: 1-2 practices per week from April – August; time and location TBA, and all River Lions home games at Meridian Centre.

How many people will be selected?

Up to 16 members will be selected to be part of the 2024 dance pak which includes both a cheer and dance team. 

Is this a paid position?

While members of the Dance Pak are compensated, this is by no means a full time job. We are looking for a group of females who love to cheer or dance and entertain large, appreciative crowds as an extra curricular activity. 

Are there any height and weight requirements?

You should be comfortable in cheerleading apparel and/or dancewear. We DO NOT have specific height and weight requirements.

Are there any age requirements?

You must be at least 18 by May 1, 2024.

What should I wear for the auditions?

• Dance/athletic bra or top, leggings or shorts (no baggy tops or pants)
• Dance or sports shoes
• Camera ready hair and make-up (hair down)

When do practices begin?

Practices will begin shortly after the audition process is complete. More information to follow. 

What type of time commitment is required if chosen for the team?

• Weekly practices – 2-3 hours
• All home games from  April 2024- August 2024
• Occasional team & league functions
• Community & Promotional events
