Plenty of place to watch the NBA finals

Monday might be the night the Toronto Raptors make history as they taken on the Golden State Warriors for Game 5 of the NBA finals.

Since most of us are unable to make the trek – even when the matches are being played across the lake in Toronto – several venues in Niagara have stepped up to the plate to bring Jurassic Park closer to home.

The newest venue to announce a viewing party is the Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines. Fans are invited to come to the arena - home of both the Niagara IceDogs and the Niagara River Lions - to view the action on the big screen. Admission is free, and doors open 30 minutes before game time. For more information, click here .

In Welland, fans are invited to gather at the front of Civic Square for an outdoor screening on the city’s LED screen. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The game will broadcast rain or shine.

For those looking for indoor showings, there are two options available. In Niagara Falls, Niagara Cineplex Odeon Niagara Square Cinemas will also be hosting viewing parties.

The parties are part of an ongoing partnership between Cineplex and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment to bring #WeTheNorth fever to Raptors fans across the country. All Raptors viewing parties are free but are limited to two tickets per person, per game.

For more information, visit Cineplex.com/Events.

In Ridgeway, the Ridge Film House will be showing both games three and four on their two large screens. Email ridgefilmhouse@gmail.com to reserve seats.

The theatre is located at 320 Ridge Rd. N, in Fort Erie.

And in Lincoln, there is a viewing party set for the Fleming Centre. Participants are invited to bring a chair and watch the remainder of the series on the big screen. Fleming Centre is located at 5020 Serena Dr., in Beamsville.

FINALS SCHEDULE

Thursday, June 13, Game 6: Raptors at Warriors, 9 p.m. (if necessary)

Jurassic Park-type events have spread well outside the borders of Toronto throughout Ontario - and even outside of the country.

According to the NBA, there are Jurassic Park-style viewing parties being held in countries including the Dominican Republic, Brazil, China, Italy, Japan, Mexico and the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Maestro Fresh Wes — the Godfather of Canadian hip hop — has dropped a fresh video for his infectious Toronto Raptors-inspired anthem. “Jurassic Park” is available now!

Produced and featuring Rich Kidd, the track and video is a celebration of the award-winning artist’s hometown team and their fans who gather outside the stadium for games.
