River Lions Announce 2019 Training Camp Roster

St. Catharines, ON – The Niagara River Lions announced today the roster for their 2019 training camp, scheduled to start on Sunday April 28 th , 2019. 16 players will vie for 10 roster spots during the 10-day training camp ahead of the River Lions inaugural season in the Canadian Elite Basketball League which begins May 9th . The River Lions will play their first two games on the road in Saskatoon and Edmonton before tipping off in the Meridian Centre on May 16th .

The River Lions will utilize the Niagara College Welland Campus Athletic Centre as their official training camp gymnasium. The team will practice at the state-of-the-art facility daily, amongst strength and condition sessions and team building activities. “We’re excited to have the Niagara River Lions on campus for their training camp,” said Associate Director of Athletics & Recreation at Niagara College, Michele O’Keefe. “The inaugural season for the CEBL promises to be exciting and we’re happy to provide a supportive role.”

Coventry Transportation, the official transportation provider for the 2019 season will get the team to and from practice. “Coventry is proud to partner with the River Lions once again,” said Customer Liaison Specialist, Bob Dick. “We pride ourselves on professional, timely and reliable service which will be our focus when transporting the team to practice and games.”

Coach Victor Raso is eager to get started. “I’m excited to finally have our players in Niagara and to begin the process of building a championship team. It will be crucially important for us both to implement our principles, and create the type of culture in training camp that will give us the opportunity to be successful throughout the season,” said Raso. “In this short period of time, our focus will be understanding our plan, determining our strengths and weaknesses and creating a base that allows us to take advantage of them.”
