St. Catharines, ON – The Niagara River Lions announced today that the “Ball in the Falls” Development Program that ran during the fall of 2020 will resume this spring in partnership with The Playground Global. The weekly program that aims to bring together a select group of basketball players to provide valuable experience while simultaneously developing professional players will take place at the new Brampton Playground facility that opens this weekend.

The Playground Global is set to be the largest privately owned basketball facility in the world with a rapid expansion plan to have six locations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) by July 2021. Across these six locations there will be 28 FIBA sized basketball courts, 14 practice courts, and 5 state of the art strength and conditioning facilities.

With limited gym availability in the Niagara Region at this time, Ball in the Falls will shift to the Brampton Playground for the spring sessions which also makes the program accessible to more players from across the GTA.

“The Playground Global is honoured to partner with the Niagara River Lions of the CEBL to host the Ball in the Falls training sessions in our brand-new state of the art facility in Brampton Ontario,” said Sam Ibrahim, Founder of The Playground Global. “At the core of The Playground’s missions is collaboration and partnership and the River Lions share these core values which makes this opportunity so exciting”.

The invite only program will feature high school, USPORTS and potential professional players each week to provide a pathway to success and opportunity to see what it takes to make it at the professional level. The program will further develop the River Lions brand and culture by showing young local athletes, that beyond high school, college or university, there is a viable opportunity for them to play at the professional level at home in Canada.

“We are excited to partner with The Playground Global for Ball in the Falls. They have done nothing but amazing things in the basketball community,” said Antwi Atuahene, Assistant General Manager of the River Lions. “Our goal is to create a platform for players to develop on a high level! This is just the beginning of something special.”

Sessions will be ran by both Atuahene and Head Coach and General Manager Victor Raso, starting on April 3rd.
