St. Catharines, ON – The Niagara River Lions are extremely excited to announce the signing of Canadian guard Connor Wood.
Wood, 6-foot-4, appeared in 19 games for Carleton University in his final year, contributing 19.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 26.9 minutes per game and shooting 50.3 percent from the floor. He was named both the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and U SPORTS Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Wood averaged 14.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists en route to Canada’s first William Jones Cup win since 1996.
Coach Raso is ecstatic to add Wood to the roster, “I’ve known Connor since high school. He has won everywhere he’s at. But importantly, he has proven himself every year in developing his role. The fact that he has decided to start his pro career speaks for the evolution of our league. I’m thrilled because the strength of our league is recruiting great Canadian talent and now we have a great one.”
Over the course of Wood’s distinguished university playing career, he won five national championships, two OUA Wilson Cub titles, the 2016 Jack Donohue Trophy as Men’s Final 8 Most Valuable Player, two U SPORTS Men’s Final 8 all-tournament selections and three OUA All-Star awards,
“I’m looking forward to playing with the River Lions this year as we have some talented guys and some good coaching, commented Wood. “I’m excited to get this group to come together and improve through the season to be successful.”
