River Lions Re-sign Sam Muldrow

St. Catharines, ON – The Niagara River Lions are excited to announce the re-signing of center Sam Muldrow.

Muldrow, 6-foot-9, appeared in 26 games for the Niagara River Lions during the 2016-17 campaign, registering 9.8 points, 3.1 blocks, and 5.8 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game. The South Carolina native dominated the competition and led the league in blocks per game and total blocks despite playing in only two-thirds of the season.

The back-to-back NBL Canada All-Defensive Team recipient, enters his third season with the River Lions and first under Head Coach Joe Raso.

“Sam is a candidate for defensive player of the year due to his rim and post protection who also is a very good outside shooter,” said Coach Joe Raso. “Sam brings NBLC experience and a calmness to a young team. Sam is a mobile big who will be asked to score inside and out.”

During the course of his career, Muldrow has made a name for himself as a formidable defensive presence. En route to winning the SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2011, he became the all-time blocks leader in South Carolina recording 275 blocks over his four year collegiate basketball career.

“I’m excited to be back! Niagara has become home for me over the past three seasons and I am looking forward to returning to the Meridian Centre under Coach Raso,” commented Muldrow. “We have a good group of guys coming in this season so I can’t wait to get things started.”

The River Lions are set to tip-off the season in less than a month when they take on the London Lightning on November 18th at the Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines. Contact the River Lions Front Office at 289-273-5905 or visit ticketmaster to secure your seats.
