River Lions announce the 3rd Annual Shine the Light on Woman Abuse Game presented by The Boldt Team RE/MAX Garden City Realty Inc.
St. Catharines, ON– The Niagara River Lions announced today their 3rd Annual Shine the Light on Woman Abuse game, presented by The BOLDT Team Re/Max Garden City Realty Inc. set to take place on March 13th versus the Saint John Riptide.
The River Lions along with The BOLDT Team Re/Max Garden City Realty Inc. will partner up with The Women’s Place of South Niagara (WPSN) to raise awareness of men’s violence against women.
“We are proud to once again partner with the River Lions and WPSN on this special day. Our hope is that by helping to raise awareness and raise funds, we can end abuse and violence towards women once and for all,” said Ted Boldt, Sales Representative at The BOLDT Team.
Players will dress in special purple uniforms, a colour that symbolizes courage, survival and honour and a colour that has come to represent the fight to end woman abuse. These game worn purple jerseys will be available through a silent auction during the game. All auction proceeds will go towards supporting Women’s Place’s two shelters and their outreach services, which provide hope and help to women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
The Women’s Place of South Niagara offers a 24-hour support line for women in need of help. This past year, they answered over 2000 calls, provided almost 10,000 bed nights in their emergency shelters, and more than 200 women received counselling through their office visit program.
