ST. CATHARINES, ON – The Niagara River Lions are proud to announce a newly formed partnership with Ridley College as the official practice facility for the 2017-18 Niagara River Lions season.
With training camp set to commence on October 30th, the Griffith Gym at the Ridley Sports Complex will be utilized on a daily basis by River Lions players and coaching staff for the duration of the season.
“We are very fortunate to have formed this partnership with Ridley College,” said Public Relations Manager, Michelle Biskup. “The partnership was such a natural fit and our hope is that it will expand off of the court as well in that we are able to bring awareness to the excellent facilities and programs within the Ridley campus.”
For over a century, Ridley College has held a history of basketball excellence where teams have earned regional, provincial and national success for more than ten decades. The independent school’s Prep Boys team now competes in the elite Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA). With a 90-acre campus, Ridley is home to 700 students from over 50 countries, offering co-educational, day and boarding school programs for students in JK to grade 12.
“We are thrilled to be the official training facility of the River Lions and look forward to working with them to promote physical literacy and this great, growing game of basketball in the Niagara Region,” commented Ridley Director of Athletics, Jay Tredway.
Training camp for the River Lions will start next week and it will be the first opportunity for new Head Coach and General Manager, Joe Raso to assess the entire roster of players signed over the off-season.
